CB Victoria School Board Reconsiders Review of 8 Community Schools

posted Apr 21, 2010, 6:54 AM by Concerned Parents
Who says there is no good news any more?  The Cape Breton Victoria Regional School Board has stopped the review of 8 community schools that were facing closure!  Let's hope the SRSB pays attention - the writing is on the wall of our Community Schools - closing schools as the first step of cost cutting is NOT the right course of action.  School boards in Halifax and Cape Breton understand this - we will find out on May 5th if the SRSB understands as well.

"The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board has granted a reprieve to eight schools that were facing possible closure.

Board chair Lorne Green said the review is on hold while administrators look at various cost-saving measures.

"If closing schools is not going to save us the dollars we think we may save, maybe that's not the option we need to look at," he said Tuesday."
