Halifax Saves 7 - Proceeds to Review 5 Schools For Closure!

posted Mar 31, 2011, 9:40 AM by Concerned Parents
As reported by the Halifax Regional School Board voted last night (March 30, 2011) to continue the School Review Process (for closure) for 5 of 12 schools that were brought forward by Board Administration and Staff.

This is a step in the right direction for the Halifax Regional School Board, which demonstrated an interest and willingness to consider the input from the public, concerned parents and community members, as they scheduled time for the public to present earlier in the week.

The report also notes "[HRSB Chair] Carvery said it didn't make sense to close the only school in the community."  Exactly - now will Mr. Carvery care to share his insight with the Members of the Strait Regional School Board?  Representatives from Rev. H.J. MacDonald Home & School Association have been trying to get that message across to the SRSB Members since last year, without success. - 5 Halifax-area schools face axe
