SRSB Board Members Serve Notice of Motion

SRSB board members Frank Machnik and Richelle MacLaughlin served notice of motion at a meeting of the SRSB to rescind the previous motions that initiated reviews of Rev. H.J. MacDonald and H.M. MacDonald schools.  These motions will be voted on at the next meeting of the SRSB, May 5, 2010, and requires 2/3rds majority (8/12) board members to pass.

All concerned parents and community members from across the SRSB are encouraged to contact their local SRSB, or all board members, to express your support of community schools urging the board members to support these motions, on May 5.

Also, for your consideration, the SRSB recently announced they expected $400,000 surplus at the end of 2010.  This figure was reported in a local news flyer, and we have not found an online link to the source yet, but it does raise the question, how can the board justify closing schools in face of surplus budgets?
