SRSB's Director of Finance Agrees ... "It's not a lot of money"

The Strait Regional School Board's Director of Finance, Mr. Willie Cormier, was quoted in the Quad County Extra (April 8, 2010) as having said "When you talk about an $80 million budget, it's [$400,000] not a lot of money in that context." at the March 24 SRSB working committee meeting.

If the anticipated $400,000 surplus from 2009-2010 operations is deemed "not a lot of money" by the Director of Finance, then the position put forward by the SRSB Administration, in the Identification Reports for Rev. H.J. Macdonald (Heatherton) and H.M MacDonald (Maryvale) schools is suspect, because their primary argument for initiating reviews of these schools is the financial savings, a combined estimate of about $200,000 .  If $400,000 is "not a lot of money" then $200,000 is an insignificant amount of money, in the context of SRSB operations.

In fact, the proposed savings for all three school reviews in the SRSB is only just over $400,000, which as noted above even the Director of Finance for the SRSB agrees "is not a lot of money."
