SRSB Staff Recommends Board Begin Review Process for Three Schools

At a poorly timed "Special Working Committee Meeting" of the Strait Regional School Board, 1:00pm on January 24, 2011 the Superintendent and Director of Operations presented the Infrastructure Rationalization 2010-2011 Screening Report to the Board.  The conclusion of this report is as follows:

Concerned Parents and Community Members are confused by this recommendation, given that less than a week ago (January 19, 2011) the same SRSB Staff presented several "cost-saving measures" to the Board, in response to the 22% Funding Reduction Exercise, and school closures were NOT included in the list.

Why would the SRSB Administration and Staff recommend pursuing an exercise that was earlier not considered worthy of pursuing as a "cost-saving measure", when they are well aware of the substantial work they will have to do to accommodate the anticipated funding cuts to Board budget in 2011-2012?
