Strait board, P3 developer to work on settlement

posted Oct 4, 2010, 5:59 AM by Concerned Parents
The Strait Regional School Board is negotiating with the P3 Developer to receive interest on the over $700,000 in underpayments, for services provided to the developer by the Board.  The Board has estimated the interest payments to be around $200,000, making this close to a $1 Million oversight by the administrators of the SRSB, who are currently pursuing a policy of School Closures to save money in light of economic pressures on revenue and declining enrollment.

It is also noted in this article that the $1 Million oversight was only discovered by the SRSB, "after provincial auditor general Jacques Lapointe revealed shortfalls in what the board was paid to provide certain services at the schools."
